Hi
For both new and old players alike.

I’ve been wanting to create a few of these short guides together and will put up a few more to follow.

Top Ten Quick Start Tips

1. THE BOXING HEARTLANDS: MORE BOXERS, MORE CHAMPIONS

For the easiest possible start, begin in the USA. It has the most boxers, venues, and a larger in-game economy than any other nation. If not the USA, consider another boxing heartland like the UK or Mexico.

2. STAY IN THE CITY

One of the joys of Boxing Manager is the freedom to start a boxing company and gym anywhere in the world. For beginners, it’s best to establish your headquarters in a big city for better opportunities. Your choice of HQ determines which venues you can use for to host your first shows.

3. SIGN THE BEST

When building your roster in a new game, never settle for less. Green is good, red is not. Your chances of signing quality fighters early on are limited, prioritise those the darkest shade of green. This early choice of fighters is your best opportunity to set a solid foundation.
But never ever fail to check for new blood from the Scouting section of your gym or by approaching fighters randomly even!

4. BE PATIENT

A common mistake for new players is a lack of patience. Remember, Boxing Manager is a simulation; success takes time. Carefully matchmake and develop each fighter, expand your gym, and grow your shows step by step for the best results.

5. MATCHMAKING REQUIRES RESEARCH

Making the right fights is everything. Avoid lazy matchmaking—it leads to losses. While the game provides basic tools for evaluating fights, these aren’t foolproof.
That means not relying on the estimated fight win percentage as your sole source of guidance. Basic estimations won’t substitute for the detail. Before signing for a fight, always investigate the Compare screen to see the head to head stats of each fighter, side by side. Factor the comparisons of various important relationships like Punch Power vs Chin or Defence vs Accuracy into your thinking.

It’s up to you to dig deeper and find winnable matches for your fighters. Put in the work, and you’ll see the rewards.

6. FIGHT FALL-GUYS

Never over match your fighter. Always look for a weaker opponent. Unless that is if it’s for a title or mandatory defence. Same thing applies for voluntary defences, find and fight a “bum”. There’s all the time in the world for your guy to have the “career defining” fight or “toe-to-toe” classic. Your job is to keep those to an absolute minimum and make sure he continues to keep on getting the big paydays for as long as possible.

Analyse and compare respective attributes and previous records carefully to ensure you make those fights that are in your favour.
If you have a doubt about an opponent for a fighter, go find a new one where you don’t.

7. AVOID PUNCHERS

Once you’ve found an opponent, make sure they can’t punch. Even if your fighter has a 20 Chin rating, there will always remain a chance of a knockdown. It’s a risk. Boxing Manager is a game of percentage risks; don’t take unnecessary ones against opponents with a punch.

8. HE WAS GOOD, THEN HE GOT OLD

Remember, all fighters get old. A 45-0 record might look great, but if your fighter has been in a large number of fights then, wear and tear will catch up. You might not see it in any stat beyond their fight total, but one fight night you will. A fighter grows old, like everything; gradually then suddenly.

9. FOLLOWERS MATTER

Building up a fighter’s following increases their chances of a title shot. The more followers they have, the more tickets and PPV sales they generate, which means more revenue. Fewer followers don’t mean an unsuccessful career but do impact earnings for both fighter and manager. And which fighters can quickly get the most followers? The Charismatic, extroverted ones and those that can consistently win inside the distance.

10. FILL THE CARDS

Schedule your first show in the first few weeks of a new game. Create showcases in your hometown with a small venue and pack it with your best fighters every 4-8 weeks. Consistent events will grow your reputation and roster strength until a headline fighter emerges for your first Main Event sometime in your second or third year of operation.
