Is there a way to push a old fighter of yours to retirement?

I saw a question how do you retire a boxer and I thought that you they just retired themselves but I have a few older boxers who have lost like 4 of their last 4 fights and they are like in the middle to late 30’s a few even in the 40’s Me even though they are rare and most of the time I turned pro after being an amateur fighter for like a decade or more, one example is I put him in 9 or 10 times a year for three years against fighters below 50% to just over .50%! He was 32 I think when turned professional and somehow he won the IBF championship belt and retained it 4 times before I lost it going for the WBO and either the WBC or WBA. He was of totally done yet as a lot of the time I build my record against fighters around 50% or below and he won 5 in a row after he had lost at the age of 38 but then he started with the rematch by 11 Tko and he fought and lost bye 8Ko! I think he was 41-3-1(40)at that point at 38 or 39! Then he fell apart his chin went down not too a 1 like some times happens but too a 7 or so and his take punching fell to a 5 and both of these were always 15 or better from turning pro on and got a little better as I worked on both! So it was retirement time even though he had a good Ring IQ and defense and punch accuracy but even though I would win 2 or 3 in a row at first before a loss remember I am fighting guy’s around.50% in general not all the time but for the most part as he was losing so I thought he would retire and I wanted him to have a nice record! I think he fought tell he was 42 and had 9 or 10 losses! I never had it happen like this before the fighter retires but I have a Nigerian fighter who is not that old and never won a championship who is like 45-9-1 (42) who has been losing to fighters he would have Ko’d within 3 rounds a few years ago and I don’t want to drop him as I have had guys go on 10 fight losing streaks before they retire when I have done that! Is there a way to push him towards retirement?

Thanks for the post.
The question of retirement is one that keeps coming up, which is the biggest sign I’ve got to sit down and think about it some more.
Reading through your post, I get that there needs to be more interaction on the part of the manager in determining retirement. I guess I always come back to the real-world argument, and that is how much agency does a manager actually have in this? In my view or “looking historically”, not much.
If that’s so, then it becomes a question of how do we make gameplay out of the little they influence they do have?

We have a career/boxer mode in test, and there it’s a simple question for the player/boxer. In that version of the game, the manager might well want the fighter to retire, but given his lifestyle/expenditure/cash flow/prior financial spending, that really might not be an option affordable to them. Ie you might want them to retire, but they are thinking how they’re going to feed themselves and their family for the next 50 or so years.
Interesting questions for sure.
