ALWAYS check betting before fighting- whether you are so morally corrupt as to bet on your fight (like me cause it’s fun) or you have no interest in get rich quick schemes, always check odds. I went into a ladder climbing match once and was all ho hum easy peasy until I noticed when I checked betting, the matchup was much closer than I expected. The bet odds had me as a winner, but it was uncomfortably close. When I checked the matchup stats I realized I missed something important which is my 2nd point.
Don’t ignore matchups- if you have a brawler who has a 4 matchup against say a pressure fighter who has a 20 matchup against you, the fight WILL be more difficult. This is just your gentle reminder that this stat is important and can change you from Apollo Creed prematch verses Drago to post match verses Drago if you ignore it.
Don’t trust percentage- Percentage is based on Ring IQ so it IS important, but there are stats you need to check such as matchups and power verses your chin. An 80% chance to win is meaningless if your fighter is lying on the mat staring blankly up at the arena lights.
In fight strategies- These are important so pay attention
Go to the body- my fav rounds 1-4. You only need to win one or two of these rounds to grab a lead in energy and take control. If you win this early, 1 or 2 rounds may be enough. There is Rarely a need to go past 4. If you’ve lost all 4 rounds trying to lose again in the 5th is definitely a choice.
Jab/Smother- Both good choices to protect your chin. I now actually prefer Jab but it EATS energy so track your stamina bar. Smother protects your chin but makes you easier to hit. Much healthier in terms of stamina but you eat a few more shots to the face than Jab. Best rounds 3-10.
Use the ring- Rarely do I use it but if your TKO bar is high and you fear for your fighter’s life, this is your best chance for survival. Click it and hopefully your fighter will thank you later being able to see out of at least one of his eyes. Best when absolutely needed or final round to play safe.
Pressure- Oh my, but is this one interesting. It is the offensive version of Jab. No chin protection just more hitting. Watch your ENERGY bar! Very good for pushing the TKO or just plain winning rounds. Usually. Losing rounds literally sucks the life out of your fighter using this. Best when ahead in energy. You can start with this, but if it backfires and you lose the round, life for your fighter just got darker.
Look for KO- If your chin is tougher than Rocky’s then go for it. Zero harm and actually performs as well as Natural style. I’d still go to the body first round or two though. If you’re looking to use this to win behind late, well, good luck. Best to use before your energy runs out or you need a miracle.
Natural Style- Provides zero advantage to using and zero disadvantage. I don’t like it, but I need to test it more. Perhaps the 2nd best start option in my opinion. Best any round as long as you trust your stamina and your chin to hold the line.
**The rest **- zero faith in the other strategies. Somebody tell me how to effectively use them please.
In game energy bar- This. Is. Everything. You want to win, reduce your enemies bar to zero and watch him melt like the evil witch he is. With an opponents energy bar at zero you go to hero. Jab, KO, and especially Pressure strategies excel and watch as you literally obliterate your opponent’s face. Usually. As always, do NOT ignore your chin and his power. The computer will try to Ko you late, even with zero energy. Be wary.
