Great article. They are fighting a losing battle though. The current system suits both the federations and the promotors so won’t change. Can’t imagine the boxers like it though. You have media and promotors calling Gervonta Davis a World Champion yet everyone other than his fans absolutely rubbishing it. A warrior like him can’t like that. Can’t imagine he is scared to fight anyone. But it’s easier for his promotors to make money by giving him easy fights for fake titles.

One fully understands why they’ve taken the position but it does seem somewhat naive if extremely well meaning to suppose that anyone will pay any attention.
We see here the idea of there being just a small number of champions/belts leaving punters wanting more excitement and relevance to each fight than that allows.
