Same I also think Bivol will win either by doctor stoppage or points
Bivol wins on points surely…Grind him down.
My prediction is that Beterbiev wins.
Ah that’s interesting
You think points or decision?
Changed my mind having watched a bit of it and Beterbiev is like stone. That’s where my money is going
I’ve got a feeling he knocks out Bivol in/around the 8th round.
Any thoughts on the Wardley - Clarke fight?
I think Wardley will win this time.
Possibly TKO in the later rounds
I think Clarke. But I admit that is slightly biased thinking because I prefer his attitude / personality.
If Clarke does win I think it might be on points.
I totally agree about his attitude, but I think Clarke will need to dig deep and go to a dark place to win.
Not sure if he can dig as deep as he did last time though.
Wouldn’t be upset with him winning though
Well, that did not go well for Clarke. I hope he is ok.
I feel bad for Liam Cameron too. I felt he was winning that fight against Whittaker, and was likely to go on and win it.
Very close fight in Bivol / Beterbiev. Watching it live, I thought it was a draw. What a fight. Very high level, quality entertainment.
Let’s hope we get a replay. Such a high quality fight
I don’t think anyone was expecting a first round stoppage in the Clarke fight
The Bivol / Beterbiev fight, I was learning towards Bivol after the fight, I have rewatched it and think a draw would have been a fair outcome.
But after rewatching I still can’t see how that one judge had it so wide!
I don’t think Eddie was out of place saying what he did, I’m not his biggest fan but I think he called it right with that judge.
I think Eubank jr is still leaving himself far too open, it’s like he is throwing a punch and waiting for someone to tell him how good it was.
Still far too wild and undisciplined
I wonder how good he could have been with a proper trainer and if he actually took constructive criticism and listened to what he should be doing and not what he knows best!
Think you guys probably had enough of my opinion so I’ll leave the other fights lol
Stunning quality fighting.
Warrants a rewatch I think.
Always seem different second round.
I had it 114-114
What about others?
Thanks for sharing them.
Great quality bill though not a fan of the music between chief support and main event.
Also interesting watching Hearn and Warren giving Shalom the entire week.
They clearly loathe him being about and advising a lot of the b side fighters as well as the odd a-side one as with Eubank.
I think Bivol won personally but Beterbiev’s pressure swayed the judges
I have watched the Bivol/Beterbiev fight for a 3rd time and put my pressure fighters hat on, can only see a draw now tbh
I think I was too focused and clouded on my admiration of Bivol.
We all know judges have their own opinions on fight styles and what sways them, and as much as a lot of the punches were blocked, the pressure was top level.
The judge that scored it 116/112, I just couldn’t see it that wide
Overall it was a masterclass in two boxing styles every amateur should be made to watch multiple times.
Cameron may well have gone on to win but for me i felt Whittaker had way to much on his mind and he just wasn’t loose enough and it seemed like he was fighting against his own natural boxing style.
He should have gone out and fought the way he naturally does, I get he wanted to show a different side to his craft, but it seemed to put him off his rhythm, Saying that he still had moments in the early rounds.
It does leave a debate over how good he will be against top level opponents, only time will tell.
I’m not in the camp that fighters need to prove their injuries so I don’t agree with all these people saying he should show his X-rays and that.
Anyone that has been in the ring knows you can have an off night, if he wanted a way out, Cameron gave him one and Whittaker took it.
Definitely would like to see a rematch.
I disagree a bit, because when a fight is close it is not surprising if the score cards are radically different. I don’t think Hearn has a very strong argument in my opinion. It makes sense that the scores of the three judges and the public could be very different, if the rounds are close. Overall, I think it was a draw but you only need to give a few rounds the other way and you get a totally different score card. It is probably unlikely in a close fight that everyone will see it in the same way. This is exemplified by the imprecise nature of judging and the impact round by round scoring can have on the overall result.
I don’t like this ‘it’s subjective, it depends what you like’ way of judging boxing. It might not be a popular opinion, but I would actually prefer it to be based on punches landed. It would be an objective measure (assuming the technology is reliable) that would encourage defense and attack and reinforce the old saying, that the goal is to punch the opponent and not get hit. If you land more in a round it’s a 10-9 round. Knockdown is 10-8. Debate over. Despite critics of this, I don’t think it would dramatically change what we actually see in the ring. In addition, make the scores public at the end of each round.
Another topic, I’m also hoping that a day will come when we don’t have all these promoters, and all boxers are members of a central organization that promotes everything. Currently, whether we like it or not, I think boxing is about the promoters just as much as it’s about the boxers. I’m on the side of boxers - who are getting hit in the face for a living. All this nonsense between promoters standing in each others spaces during face offs…come on now.
On Eubank Jnr, I really wish he would stop wasting his time on the Benn fight and give it a go with a top fighter who has a world title belt. I would like to see him fulfill his potential before he finishes. I have no interest in this Eubank-Benn pantomime.
